Professor Winita Hardikar is a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to medicine, particularly to paediatric liver disease and transplantation. 

Professor Winita Hardikar is the Director of the Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition Department Royal Children’s Hospital, and Head of the Liver and intestinal transplant program. She completed her medical training and a PHD at Melbourne University, and was a Fulbright scholar at Yale University. 

Sue is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist who completed her training in Paediatrics and Clinical Genetics at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services (VCGS) in Melbourne, and the Oxford Clinical Genetics Service in the UK, also gaining experience at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a consultant.  For more than a decade, Sue has co-led research into genomic testing for children with undiagnosed genetic conditions at the Royal Children’s Hospital, developing a rare disease research program, RDNow.
