Noel is an experienced general paediatrician and clinical pharmacologist. He has a unique background, having worked in general practice for several years before completing his paediatric training. He currently has appointments as a general paediatrician and director of clinical pharmacology in the Department of General Medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital and as director of the Australian Paediatric Pharmacology Research Unit at Murdoch Children's Research Institute.

Noel manages the full range of paediatric illness and is an expert in the diagnosis and management of drug allergies and intolerances.

Noel has an international reputation for his work in medicines in children. He has extensive clinical trial experience in both adult and paediatric studies. He has been an investigator on over 180 clinical drug trials. He is an advisor to both government and industry and evaluates new drug applications for the Australian Therapeutic Drugs Administration.

He has also been a member of the Committee for the selection of Essential Medicines for the World Health Organisation and evaluated therapies or the European Union.
